About the event
***YOU CANNOT REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT, UNLESS YOU HAVE REGISTERED FOR THE 8/19/24 CLINIC***
Cutting is a western-style equestrian competition in which a horse and rider work together before a judge or panel of judges to demonstrate the horse's athleticism and ability to handle cattle. This clinic is a fun, yet challenging way to test your patience and perservere. Cutting pits a horse against a cow in a battle of wills. Horse and rider must move queitly into a herd of cattle, cut one cow from the herd, drive it to the center of the arena and "hold" it away from the herd. It is not only incredible to watch, but even more incredible to participate!Â
This clinic is a TWO day event. Day 1 being held on 8/19/24 from 3:30PM until about 7/8PM (or earlier). During this time, you will meet the horse, trainer, and learn the basic of cattle cutting. Day 2 is 8/24/24 from 430PM until about 8PM. This is EXHIBITION day, where you will showcase your new skill to the audience and your family. You must be able to participate in both days.Â
We are grateful to work with the Idaho Horse Cutting Association for yet another year and they have gracously invited our veterans to learn how to cut cattle and then showcase your new found skill at their exhibition! We are beyond grateful to the IHCA, the horses, trainers, and even the cattle!
